Described as “speculative nonfiction” and “visionary science fiction,” “2073” is a movie that will attempt to engage viewers into assessing the present. Known for his documentaries “Senna” and “Amy,” director Asif Kapadia blends that genre with a narrative in “2073.” Complete with archival footage of the present, the project describes itself as a “warning” to a not too promising future.

Rounding out the ensemble are Naomi Ackie and Hector Hewer. Inspired by the French short “La Jetée,” “2073” is screening out of competition at the Venice Film Festival.
