Corin Nemec describes his latest feature “Place of Bones” as an actor’s dream job for several different reasons. Nemec appreciated the horror, thriller, dark comedy, and drama elements of the layered narrative. Director Audrey Cummings and cinematographer Andrzej Sekula also crafted, according to Nemec, a “beautiful” film: “every single frame is a photograph.” CinemAddicts co-host Eric Holmes, who absolutely loves this Western, talked to Nemec about “Place of Bones.”
“Place of Bones” centers on Pandora (Heather Graham), a mother living on a remote ranch with her daughter Hester (Brielle Robillard). They both tend to Calhoun (Corin Nemec), a wounded outlaw who is being hunted down by his equally shady colleagues (led by Tom Hopper).
Described as a “horror-Western,” “Place of Bones” is a tense and unpredictable tale of survival at any cost. Graham, Robillard, and Nemec carry most of the narrative, and witnessing their at times humorous interplay is a fun watch. Director Audrey Cummings has crafted a memorable feature that both Eric Holmes and I strongly recommend. Check out our review on this week’s CinemAddicts podcast:
“It’s a script of a lifetime,” said Nemec, who also co-wrote and starred in the 2023 Western ‘Dead Man’s Hand.’ “I like to say it’s kind of a combination of ‘Hateful Eight’ meets ‘Misery.’ It’s just a fantastically written story that you become immersed in when you start watching (the movie). It’s wonderfully done. Audrey did an incredible job directing (‘Place of Bones’).”
