If you’re looking for a fantasy narrative with a ton of survival thriller elements, then Damsel fits the bill. Releasing on Netflix March 8, Damsel centers on a young woman (Millie Bobby Brown) who believes she is going to marry a prince (Nick Robinson), only to realize she is being sacriiced to a fire breath dragon (voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo). Check out my video review of Damsel below!

The ensemble includes Ray Winstone as the damsel’s father and Angela Bassett as her stepmother. Robin Wright is the evil queen who sets the “damsel in distress” operation into motion. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, best known for 28 Days Later, is the director.

Millie Bobby Brown is excellent in the lead role, and the feature’s best moments deal with her character’s attempts to escape the dragon. The dark, unforgiving world of the cave is immersive. Add in Shohreh Aghdashloo’s memorable voice work as the Dragon and you have a picture that is well worth the watch.
