I gave the new feature Dinner in America five stars, Eric Holmes gave it 6.9 stars (more on that later), and Bruce Purkey threw down a 4.5 (with room to grow). So essentially, we’re giving Dinner in America the ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ banger treatment!
Simon (Kyle Gallner) is an obnoxious punk rocker who is trying to evade police due to his drug dealing and pyromania. An outcast who is mercilessly bullied, Patty (Emily Skeggs) finds solace and passion via her love for punk rock. Through a twist of fate, these strangers strike an immediate bond, leading to an epic journey “through the decaying suburbs of the American Midwest” (such a great official plot synopsis, I had to use it!).
Listen to our DINNER IN AMERICA review on the Find Your Film podcast:
The talented ensemble includes Pat Healy (terrific in We Need To Do Something), Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future) and filmmaker/actress Hannah Marks (After Everything). I love everything about this movie, and am stoked that it received high marks from Eric Holmes and Bruce Purkey.
