“Die Alone” and “You & I” both hit theaters today. CinemAddicts co-host Eric Holmes interviews “Die Alone” director/writer Lowell Dean and actor Douglas Smith. Wrapping up the podcast is an interview with “You & I” actress/director/producer/editor Summer Shelton and actor/producer Clayne Crawford. Eric and I review (and highly recommend) both films on the podcast.
“Die Alone” centers on a young man (Douglas Smith) who teams up with a tough nosed survivalist (Carrie Anne Moss) to find his missing girlfriend. Stricken with amnesia, his search may be a fruitless one especially since they are living in an often times violent and ever changing world.
Eric talked to Smith and filmmaker Lowell Dean, and though Smith mentions a word which I think is a spoiler, it’s still worth checking out the chat. That said, there are a lot of plot summaries that use a certain word that I refuse divulge. It’s better to be suprised by the many layers “Die Alone” has to offer. Solid performances by the actors all around, and it’s great to see Frank Grillo pop up during a pivotal section of the movie. The twist is pretty awesome, and the narrative, which is an interesting blend of unforgiving violence and dedication, is excellent. Eric gave it 4.5/5 and my rating is 4/5.
“Die Alone” is now in theaters and available On Digital and On Demand. Purchase/rent “Die Alone” on Amazon to support our Find Your Film (we receive a slight commission).

Written, directed, edited, and produced by Summer Shelton, “You & I” centers on the relationship between Sara (Shelton) and Joseph (Clayne Crawford, also a producer). A chance meeting over the weekend to celebrate a friend’s birthday leads them to reminisce and reconcile the past. Is that bond still there, and can they work towards a renewed relationship in the present?
This is a highly intimate drama that features nuanced work from Crawford and Shelton. It’s gradual and organic pace, mixed in with strong sound design, visual compositions, and music (from William Ryan Fritch and Carly Johnson) made this a worthwhile experience for me. Eric Holmes absolutely loves “You & I” (he gave it 5/5 stars), and I also recommend the feature (4.5/5 stars).
“You & I” starts its Los Angeles theatrical run today at the Lumiere Music Hall. Please put “You & I” on your “to-watch” radar!
