“My Penguin Friend” is inspired by the true story of DinDim, a lost penguin who is rescued from an oil spill by an introverted fisherman named João (Jean Reno). Adriana Barraza is his wife Maria who initially is perplexed over the mutual bond between her husband and DinDim. Alexia Moyano as a researcher who has been studying DinDim’s habits. DinDim visits the fisherman in Ilha Grande (Brazil), stays for a while, and then makes the journey to Patagonia. Showing this trek is one of the visually arresting moments of “My Penguin Friend,” and the movie may also make your eyes a bit misty!
