CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey loves to consume A24 movies, and he recently watched Opus on HBO Max. Even though he described it as a “mess of a movie,” Purkey still gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Check out his Opus review and, more importantly, let us know your thoughts on the movie!

Although the movie, according to Purkey, is “terrible in a lot of ways,” having a stellar cast (Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich, Juliette Lewis, and Amber Midthunder) should have helped the situation. Budgeted at $10 million, Opus grossed just $2.1 million worldwide at the box office.
Its Rotten Tomatoes Score (Critics 39%, Audience 60%) is not spectacular, but at least cinephiles were a bit more appreciative of Opus’ storytelling.

Directed and penned by Mark Anthony Green, Opus centers on Ariel Ecton (Ayo Edebiri), a journalist who is invited to the compound of music icon Alfred Moretti (John Malkovich). The eccentric artist has twisted plans for the future, but since he is surrounded by sychophants, his dream might be fulfilled!
