Directed and co-written by Mark O’Connor, “Amongst The Wolves” is a riveting, Dublin set crime thriller that is now out in U.S. theaters and available on VOD. Obviously this is “Superman” weekend, but hopefully this movie won’t go too far under the radar. CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey describes “Amongst The Wolves” as a “hidden gem.” Check out his review and let us know your thoughts on the movie!

The story centers on Danny (Luke McQuillan, who co-wrote with Mark O’Connor), a homeless ex-soldier who befriends Will (Daniel Fee), a troubled teen who is in trouble with a cold-blooded criminal named Power (Aidan Gillen).

Will is in debt to Power, and he must do low level jobs to repay his boss. Danny understands that Power’s stranglehold on Will may permanently harm the youth, and he sets out to help his friend.

One of Bruce Purkey’s catch phrases is “hidden gem,” and since our CinemAddicts podcast spotlights under the radar, indie driven films, that is a perfect term. All three of us love Amongst The Wolves,” and Purkey accurately states the picture is an even balance of crime thriller and drama. The ending is also totally memorable.
