CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey may have given Guillermo del Toro’s film Frankenstein a three-star rating, but he barely recommends this movie. Although general consensus has been positive for this 149 minute epic, Purkey had mainly negative things to say about the film. Check out his thoughts below, and share your own review in the comments!

โ€Š”(Guillermo del Toro is) getting more and more into Tim Burton land where he’s making remaking things that people have already made before. Here he just is doing like a pretty straight ahead version of Frankenstein,” said Bruce Purkey. “So what’s good here? First of all, you can probably guess I’m not in love with this movie. I think people are pretty happy with this movie overall. For me, I think it’s mostly dull.”

Later in his review, Purkey mentioned similarites to The Rocky Horror Picture Show and added that this movie should have been a “camp classic.” But instead of going for more campiness, the movie just ended up in relative dullsville for the CinemAddicts co-host. He even added that Crimson Peak is del Toro’s “Gothic masterpiece” and not Frankenstein.
