Tether - Hariharasudhen Nagarajan

Filmmaker Hariharasudhen Nagarajan brings his feature “Tether” to Dances With Films for its world premiere. If you are in Los Angeles and are in the mood for a well executed indie drama, “Tether” screens June 22 at 6:30 pm pt. I was impressed at Nagarajan’s attention to visual detail amidst a dialogue and performance driven narrative. Full interview, podcast and YouTube versions, are featured in the post.

The narrative centers on a grieving father named Leonardo (Nick Giedris) who is still haunted by his daughter’s shooting death. Ben Burton is Gerald, a former school resource officer who feels guilty for not stepping into action during the shooting. A chance meeting between the two leads to a life altering incident.

Directing “Tether’s” story (Anghus Houvouras is the screenwriter) was not a daunting task for Hariharasudhen Nagarajan. “I think as a filmmaker I feel I can handle these kind of heavy subjects. I am used to watching heavy films,” said Nagarajan. “And I’ve always wondered when watching them whatever impact that creates on me, I want the same impact to be created on the audience.”

***Listen to the audio version of Nagarajan’s interview on the Find Your Film Podcast:

Nagarajan has nothing but praise for Dances With Films. “They are ready to back people who have different voices,” said the filmmaker. “I’m not saying I’m different or anything, but there are 36 world premieres (this year with) Dances with Films. So that’s a great thing.”
